What's this really about?

HUNDO is a deeply intimate documentary that follows a transformative journey of self-discovery. After significant weight loss, this exploration of identity grapples with questions that few dare to ask: Who are you when you pull back the layers physical appearance? How does transformation shape your sense of self? Who are you, when I become the version you always wanted to be?

Through raw, unfiltered conversations, personal archives, and introspective cinematography, the film examines the psychological, emotional, and social dimensions of radical change. It's a story about shedding not just weight, but outdated versions of yourself—a meditation on resilience, vulnerability, and the ongoing process of becoming.

HUNDO celebrates the messy, complicated beauty of transformation. It's for anyone who has ever wondered if reinvention is possible, who has faced their own identity crises, and who understands that true change isn't just physical—it's fundamental, personal, and deeply human.

About the Creator

Filmmaker portrait

KayeDott Smith, The creator of HUNDO is a filmmaker and artist who has spent the last decade exploring themes of identity, resilience, and human transformation through both documentary and personal narrative work. What began as a quest to find similar stories became an urgent desire to tell a story that hadn't been told—a story of what happens when you transform and realize the "old version" of you was a choice.

"I made HUNDO because I needed to be understand. In the process, that need dissipated."-KayeDott

After losing over 100 pounds, the filmmaker grappled with unexpected revelations: I thought I was losing weight (lbs) but in all actuality it was the "wait" I was losing. Waiting to be accepted, waiting to be good enough, or even waiting to feel worthy. These questions evolved into a creative investigation, resulting in HUNDO—a film that examines identity, vulnerability, and the courage required to become who you are meant to be.

The filmmaker draws from a diverse background in visual arts, psychology, and social commentary. HUNDO represents years of research, personal interviews, and a commitment to creating work that honors the complexity of human transformation.
